How Orthodontics Work
Whether we are working with a child, teenager or adult, the goal of orthodontic treatment is the same - to straighten teeth so they look and function better.
We can use braces or clear aligners to achieve this goal. These treatment options apply gentle pressure to the teeth to shift them into the correct position over a period of months or years.
Traditional Braces
Traditional braces have been used to straighten teeth for decades and are often constructed from either ceramic or metal. Recent advances in orthodontic treatment have brought us braces that are more low-profile, comfortable and easier to care for.
How Braces Straighten Teeth
With braces, continuous pressure is applied to the teeth over a period of time, gradually moving them into their new, corrected positions.
As pressure is applied and the teeth shift, the bone changes shape to accommodate the new positions of the teeth.
Invisalign Clear Aligners
Invisalign clear aligners can help gradually straighten your smile. This series of individually customized, clear plastic aligners adjusts the position of teeth over a period of time.
With Invisalign clear aligners, you get the convenience factor of removing them when you'd prefer no one know that you are straightening your teeth.
Similar in appearance to custom whitening trays, they are typically easy to insert. You can even remove them to eat, drink, brush and floss!
